Monday to Thursday: 8.30am - 6.00pm

Fridays: 8.30am - 5.00pm

Saturdays: 9.00am - 12.00pm (drop in clinic)

Sundays / Public Holidays: Closed

Doctors appointments are available throughout the day from 8.30am until closing time on weekdays

Appointment Times

GP consults are booked at 15 minute intervals.

If you have multiple problems you wish to discuss or you require a longer appointment there may be an additional charge. Please let the receptionist know that you need a double appointment in advance so that we can accommodate you and enable the Doctor to run on time.

Phones are switched over to Reception from 8am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8am-5pm Friday. Outside of this time your call will be answered by a triage nurse.

After Hours Care

All calls are directly routed through to a telephone answering service. This answering service is staffed by experienced nurses who will assess your needs. They will then offer advice or arrange for you to see an experienced Paramedic who will visit you at home or order an Ambulance for you or ask you to visit a GP at the 24 Hour surgery.

We can also offer a new telehealth after hours service with our partners at Practice Plus

GP home visits are generally not possible after hours, however the Paramedic crew may be able to visit if appropriate. In adopting a more efficient use of our experienced doctors' time we hope to continue to provide top-class medical care to our community and attract new doctors to look after you in future years. If you have any difficulties please notify your GP within normal business hours during the week.

Practice Plus

We partner with Practice Plus to provide same day virtual after-hours GP appointments for enrolled patients, as an extension of our regular medical centre team.
Practice Plus is available weekdays 6pm-10pm and weekends/public holidays 8am-8pm.
Where a physical examination is not needed, more and more virtual consultations are taking place every day in the comfort of your own home. If you need to be seen face to face, or would prefer to still be seen at the 24Hr Surgery, this option is still available exactly as it is today
When you register for Practice Plus, you will be asked some personal details, but you will still be enrolled with Durham Health

24 Hour Surgery

The 24 Hour Surgery in Christchurch has excellent medical facilities including 24hr Pharmacy, Xray and an Observation Unit.
They are open 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year
Up to 3,000 visits a year are made to the 24-Hour Surgery in Christchurch by people who travel from rural areas, including many from Rangiora. Cantabrians have some of the best access to community based care in New Zealand, and we are very fortunate to have the 24 Hour Surgery, one of the last remaining services of its kind in the country that is still open around the clock.
In addition the Waimakariri area now has an on-call Paramedic team to visit you at home afterhours when needed. This is a new initiative that has been piloted with great success in the North Island. They are on duty after surgery hours during the week, Saturday, Sunday and Public holidays until midnight.
