Standard Opening Hours

Monday to Thursday:  8.30am - 6.00pm 

Fridays: 8.30am - 5.00pm

Saturdays: 9.00am - 12.00pm (drop in clinic)

Sundays / Public Holidays: Closed

Doctors appointments are available throughout the day from 8.30am until closing time on weekdays

Our phone lines are open from 8am to 5pm every weekday.

Appointment Times

GP consults are booked at 15 minute intervals.

If you have multiple problems you wish to discuss or you require a longer appointment there may be an additional charge. Please let the receptionist know that you need a double appointment in advance so that we can accommodate you and enable the Doctor to run on time.

After Hours Care

In an emergency phone 111 and speak to the Ambulance Service.

For free health advice, please call Healthline on 0800 611 116. They have healthcare professionals available 24hrs a day. 

GP home visits are generally not possible after-hours, however the Paramedic crew may be able to visit if appropriate. In adopting a more efficient use of our experienced doctors' time we hope to continue to provide top-class medical care to our community and attract new doctors to look after you in future years. If you have any difficulties, please notify your GP within normal business hours during the week.

Telehealth
  • We partner with Bettr to provide same day virtual after-hours GP appointments for enrolled patients, as an extension of our regular medical centre team. 
  • Bettr is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. 
  • Where a physical examination is not needed, more and more virtual consultations are taking place every day in the comfort of your own home. If you need to be seen face to face, or would prefer to still be seen at an Urgent Care, this option is still available exactly as it is today
  • When you register for Bettr, you will be asked some personal details, but you will still be enrolled with Durham Health

Urgent Care Centres
  • Our network partner, Riccarton Clinic, is open 8am-8pm, 365 days a year
  • The 24 Hour Surgery is open 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year
  • Thousands of visits a year are made to Urgent Care centres in Christchurch by people who travel from rural areas, including many from Rangiora. Cantabrians have some of the best access to community-based care in New Zealand, and we are very fortunate to have the 24 Hour Surgery, one of the last remaining services of its kind in the country that is still open around the clock.
  • In addition, the Waimakariri area now has an on-call Paramedic team to visit you at home afterhours when needed. This is a new initiative that has been piloted with great success in the North Island. They are on duty after surgery hours during the week, Saturday, Sunday and Public holidays until midnight.
