Bexsero Vaccine
MenB Bexsero® is a vaccine designed to protect against meningococcal group B disease and is to be funded from 1st March 2023
Bexsero is funded for 2 doses and a booster for:
- children up to 12 months of age
- catch up for 13 months to 59 months available until 31/08/2025
Bexsero is funded for 2 doses for people aged between 13 years and 25 years who are either
- entering within the next three months, or in their first year of living in boarding school hostels, tertiary education halls of residence, military barracks or prisons
- currently living in boarding school hostels, tertiary education halls of residence, military barracks or prisons, from 1 March 2023 until 28 February 2024 as a catch up
Bexsero will now be on the National Immunisation Schedule as a primary course and booster. The routine childhood schedule is 3 months, 5 months, and a booster at 12 months
Please note that paracetamol is recommended for children under 2 years because of the risk of high fever. Paracetamol should be given 30 minutes prior to the immunisation appointment
