Durham Health is a member of Christchurch PHO. If you are an enrolled patient you are entitled to subsidised health care. If we have availability, we will see casual patients and visitors to our community, however they will not receive a subsidy and the fee charged will reflect this.
We understand that emergencies and work or family obligations may occasionally require you to miss an appointment. If this occurs, please inform Reception as soon as possible so we can offer the slot to other patients in need of medical care.
Due to high demand, a $20.00 fee will be charged for any missed GP appointments or those not canceled with at least one hour’s notice. This fee applies to all age groups.
Repeated no-shows will result in a charge for the full appointment fee.
Higher fees may be charged for missed specialist appointments.
Our policy is that payment is required on the day of consultation unless prior arrangement is made.
When there is availability we can see non-enrolled and casual patients at our practice. However payment is expected prior to the consultation with the doctor or nurse as we do not offer accounts to non-enrolled or casual patients.
Any outstanding balances will have a monthly administration fee of $5.00 added until paid in full.
Please feel free to discuss alternative methods of payment with the Practice Manager or Front desk staff. We welcome regular automatic payments if this assists your budgeting.

If a parent of an under 14year old patient attends for a consultation about their under 14 year old child and the child is not with them, an adult fee will be charged. Under-14 funded consults are applicable only if the child is present at the consultation.
When booking a double appointment please be aware that this is not a "standard appointment" You will be charged CSC holder fee of $20 plus a normal enrolled patient fee of $62 for a total of $82. Please ask to speak to a receptionist for further explanation if required.
Drivers Licence and Heavy Vehicle Licence medicals require an appointment with both Nurse and GP. These medicals start from $100.00 as there is no funding for this procedure.
Medical Assessments + Forms for services such as FENZ, VSA, NZ Defence Force etc. require more time than a standard 15 minute GP consultation. You will need to provide the required paperwork to reception in order for them to make an appropriate booking and provide a quote.
Initial GP consultation fee applies as for non-enrolled and enrolled listed above.
Fees for minor surgery start from $280 and are adjusted upwards according to complexity and materials used. The doctor will give you a quote before embarking on the procedure. The cost quoted covers the procedure and a follow up nurse consult
The Mirena device is now fully funded on prescription. Funding is also available for the insertion procedure if criteria is met, otherwise standard fees apply.
Please book an appointment with your doctor to discuss the suitability, costs, and preliminary tests required. A normal adult consultation fee will apply for this. This appointment is required even if you have had a Mirena previously.
If you decide to go ahead with the fitting of this long-term contraceptive method the insertion fee is $220 (unless you meet the low cost contraceptive criteria or it is deemed medically necessary).
Jadelle insertion and removal is now funded for patients that meet criteria. Please see your doctor for discussion around whether Jadelle will be a suitable form of contraception for you and if you meet the criteria for funding.
If not funded the Fee for both insertion and removal is $220.00
This service is fully funded if you qualify through the Canterbury Initiative Scheme, a referral required by your GP.
Private bookings for Spirometry will cost $150.00
This service is fully funded if through the Canterbury Initiative Scheme, a referral is required from your GP.
If self-funded the cost is $160.00
